Both John M Cooper (Univ Of Missouri 1931-1934) and Glen Roberts (Emory&Henry 1932-1935) were born in 1912 and both originated the shot (independently) in high school. Which one was first will probably never be known. Kenny Sailors born, 1921, was the first to use it in the NBA in 1946. Others that were early users and popularized the shot were Bud Palmer, Belus Smawley, and Joe Fulks. John Cooper recently passed in 2010 at age 98.
