Normal cause of a belt smoking is that one of the driven pulleys has siezed.
no it would not fit it would either be to big or to small but it will not fit on a different model
If it always goes back to normal later, I'd suspect fuel filter first. But other problems are possible.
possible grounded or bare wire
freon needs to be charged
Low fuel pressure
have you checked your fuses?
Bad heater core.
