Miracle Gro usually helps plants to grow faster, however if too much is applied to a plant, the nitrogen can burn the leaves of the plant and in rare occassions it can cause plant death. Again, that's only if it is really overapplied

What class of plants turns nitrogen gas into nitrates?

It is not so much the class of plants that do this directly but rather a class of plants that support nitrogen binding bacteria in their root nodules - these plants are the 'legumes' such as peas, beans and clover.

Is a three leaf clover rarer than a four-leaf clover?

No it is not. Most naturally occurring clovers only have 3 leaves. That is why a four leafed clover is considered to be good luck; because of it's rarity. Technically speaking, a clover with four leaves is a slight mutation of the clover genome. Much like a man who has six fingers on one hand, only that case is far rarer than a four leafed clover.
