find a posi out of a z28 and swap the whole axle assembly
Should be 3.42 but check the rear axle RPO number. This will tell you exactly which axle is in the car. The table for the results can be found on the web.

yes, all 1979 Camaro Z28's came with a 3.73:1 posi traction rear end.
probably a 3.43.
it comes stock with 2.73 gears but if you raise them up to 3.73 gears would be alot funner...3.55 good for daily driving 3.73 good for steet/drag and 4.10 good for drag
If its a z28, then yes. The base models did not include the posi rear end
