By taking it off and testing it for resistance with a digital multimeter.
All the neutral safety switch does is ensure the vehicle will not crank with the key in any other gear position than neutral or park. If you need to start the vehicle before figuring this out, ensure the vehicle is in park (you should also put the parking brake on). Turn your wheels all the way to the left, and put your key in the ON/ACC position. Look under the hood, and you should see where the starter is (in front of the flywheel, typically on the right side of the vehicle). You'll see some posts coming out of the starter with wires attached to them. Use a cable - such as a starter cable or test lead - to apply power to the small post. Be careful to ensure that the cable, your clothing, or any of your body parts are clear of all moving objects before doing this. You can start the vehicle this way, and it will run so long as the key remains in the on position.
A misaligned or defective neutral safety switch will cause you to have to wiggle the gear selector in order to get the engine to start. You may even have to put it in Neutral. The switch is there to prevent the engine from starting while in gear. It should only start in Park or Neutral.
back up lights not working, no crank problem. Your car won't start (or even try to turn over).
There is probably a small piece of paper jamming the switch inside the slot. The switch is triggered as you push the paper in, it is very sensitive and light and can be easily jammed in the run position. Be careful and make sure it is unplugged before putting you fingers near it. Try using a small piece of paper and sliding it sideways in the slot to clear any debris. If all else fails you may have to take the machine head apart to clear shreds of paper from the cutters and sensor switch.

There is no such thing as a crank fuse. A starting circuit consists of the battery, ignition switch, neutral safety switch or clutch switch, the solenoid and the starter.First check to see if the cable ends at the battery are clean and most of all tight. Turn the key to start while shifting from park to neutral. If it tries to turn over then the neutral safety switch is bad. If all fails then take it to a repair shop.
the neutral start switch is located on the right side of the transmission housing. It can be adjusted or if it fails continuity check must be replaced. to adjust put trans select lever in N.loosen the bolt at the top right and align the groove in the end of the control shaft with the vertical index line on the switch by pivoting the switch, then tighten the bolt. In park or neutral you should have continuity between the 2nd and 3rd terminals from the right on the bottom looking into the connector with the snap clip on top. If not you will need to replace it.
The F150 uses a safety switch on the clutch system. The switch is under the dash on the clutch pedal arms. If the switch is bad, then the engine will not start.
Many vehicles are equipped with a safety mechanism that requires you to press the brake pedal in order to shift out of park. Sometimes the release switch on the brake pedal wears or otherwise becomes out of adjustment, sometimes the switch fails and sometimes the release solenoid fails.
Yes, there is a lockout switch that will not allow the starter to engage if the engine is not in Neutral or Park. If that switch fails, is loose or not adjusted properly the engine will not start.
When MBR fails then the operating system will not load.
The 2004 dodge ram has a system built into the Power Distribution Modual (fuse box under hood), that turns on the head lights when the head light switch fails. This is a safety system in case the switch fail at night. Check and replace head light switch.
When the brakelite switch fails it fails to on. Replace the brakelite switch. Located under the dash on the brake pedal arm. You will see a push switch that is released when the brake is pressed. Just replace that switch.
