∙ 7y agoBasically to give structure to the content of a web page - You can specify what links are part of the site's navigation, what sentences are headers and what blocks of text are paragraphs pertaining to those headers. Tables can present a data and establish the relationships of the data sets.

The current accepted purpose of HTML is to define the types of data that make up a webpage. HTML is not used to format the page, nor is it used to style the page. It simply defines what the kind of content various bits of data represent.
