From a medical stand point the importance to good health is you get to live and enjoy life without the troubles of being unhealthy, and when you are in better health your body feels good and good feelings induce endorphins, or pleasure molecules, into the blood stream. While endorphins are in your bloodstream it tells your brain that life is good. You will also be healthier mentally you have a positive view point about yourself not many people in poor health can look in the mirror and say "man, you look good today". To be in good health is also attractive, no girl or guy in great health wants to date or marry anyone who is in poor health, it increases confidence as well.
