in adbms,,these are the two approaches to query processing..

in materialization approach,we start from the lowest level operations in the expressions.the inputs to the lowest level operations are the relations in the database.we execute the lowest level operations on the input relations and store the result in temporary relations.

in pipelining approach, several relational operations are combined into a pipeline of operations,in which the results of one operation are passed along to the next operation in the pipeline.

pipelining is advantageous since it eliminates the cost of reading and writing temporary relations

Difference between pipeline and vector processing?

Pipeline processing involves a string of data processed in a chain reaction. This means the output of the first data point processing is the input of the next processing point. Vector processing involves a CPU and only one-dimensional arrays of data. This is similar to how a basic computer functions.

What is the difference between instruction pipelining and arithmetic pipelining?

Arithmetic pipelines differ from instruction pipelines in some important ways. They are generally synchronous. This means that each stage executes in a fixed number of clock cycles. In a synchronous pipeline, moreover, no buffering between stages is provided. Each stage must be ready to accept the data passed from a previous stage when that data is produced.Another important difference is that an arithmetic pipeline may be nonlinear. The "stages" in this type of pipeline are associated with key processing components such as adders, shifters, etc. Instead of a steady progression through a fixed sequence of stages, a task in a nonlinear pipeline may use more than one stage at a time, or may return to the same stage at several points in processing.

Difference between pipeline processing and parallel processing?

Parallel processing is another method used to improve performance in a computer system, when a system processes two different instructions simultaneously, it is performing parallel processing. Parallel processing: each thing is processed entirely by a single functional unit. Pipelining: each thing is broken into a sequence of pieces, where each piece is handled by a different(specialized) functional unit Parallel processing: each thing is processed entirely by a single functional unit. Pipelining is an implementation technique where multiple instructions are overlapped in execution. • Each stage completes a part of an instruction in parallel. The stages are connected one to the next to form a pipe- instructions enter at one end, progress through the stages, and exit at the end . • Making the instruction of program faster.

Difference of scalar pipelining and vector pipelining?

Scalar pipelining offers an alternative to vector pipelining whereby the cycles are used in a linear fashion. Vector pipelining performs vector computations.

What is difference between super scalar pipeline and super pipeline?

Supserscaling and pipelining both increase instruction output. Superscaling also uses pipelining, however, superscaling allows for all the processes to be carried out at one time.

What is difference between parallel processing and pipelining in computer architecture?

the pipelining breaks a big task into number of small parts. a part higher in order gets processed n serves as an input for the next sub-task,while in parallel processing various tasks are run at the same time

What 2 different between persistent HTTP with pipelining and persistent HTTP without pipelining in communication network?

In persistent HTTP without pipelining, the browser first waits to receive a HTTP response from the server before issuing a new HTTP request. In persistent HTTP with pipelining, the browser issues requests as soon as it has a need to do so, without waiting for response messages from the server.

What is the difference between microprocessors 85 and 86?

85 is a 8 bit processor, number of flags are 5 and memory capacity is 64KB while 86 is a 16 bit processor ,number of flags are 9 and memory capacity is 1 MB.The main difference between 8085 and 8086 is that 8086 uses pipelining.

Difference between static pipeline and dynamic pipeline?

static pipelining - it is composition of stages one after another means that the output of one stage is become input to the next stage we also called it linear pipelining. it is further divided in two types synchronous and asynchronous. dynamic pipeling- in it stages are connected in a liner fashion but this kind of pipeling used feedforward and feed backword connections as a input to the stages.it perform variable function but static perform fixed functions. in dynamic pipelining we can take intermediate outputs.
