you can live to a ripe old age or if you are unlucky it can be responsible for complications that can kill you prematurely, it all depends on how the cards fall and on the treatment received for the disease.

∙ 14y agoTo date there has been no cure found for Arthritis so if you have it you are stuck with it. Fortunately a lot more can be done then previously about both the pain and ways of making badly damaged joints serviceable again.

∙ 12y agoA person With RA can expect a slight reduction in life span as a result of the disease and also as a result of the drugs used in treating the disease. other factors may include the added risk to the body posed by infections in damaged tissues and joint replacements and operations when they are required. However overall RA is not a terminal disease but can depending on conditions lead to other illnesses that are.

∙ 10y agoOne can live to a ripe old age with RA, However there can be some shortening of lifespan caused by the drugs that keep the disease under control and if left untreated by other problems that may arise as a result of having the disease, RA however wil not kill you.

How to live normal life with rheumatoid arthritis?
I have Rheumatoid arthritis and up to now I have lived a reasonably normal life, I do have to admit that some of the medications I have to take to keep the situation under control are a bit of a hassle and have some disagreeable side effects and at age 62 i had to have a total right elbow replacement which stopped me from continuing my trade as a carpenter I do however still do most of the things I have always done. We all have to live within the parameters put upon us.

it depends ...is it osteoarthritis or rheumatoid?....osteoarthritis can start in an old injury ...it doesn't" spread " per say , but most folks will end up with it in several places if they live long enough...it also depends on weight and exercise level as to how much and how soon you get it ....rheumatoid arthritis is an auto immune disorder and is totally different from osteoarthritis in that is usually works on pairs of joints on opposing sides of the body at the same time.
