3.43 Automatic and 3.73 Manual
most Z's had the 3.42 gear ratio.
a 10 bolt rear posi was an option as well as ratio 3.73 was performance option
I believe it's 3.43.
Assuming youre talking gear ratios, in all 6 speed manual transmissions have a 3:42 gear ratio. In automatic transmission cars, you will find a 3:23 rear in all SS camaros. In Z28's with nonperformance tires, you will have a 2:72 ratio and a steel as opposed to aluminum driveshaft.
I think it varied on which engine The car originally came with, but mine is A 1992 Z28 with the 5.7 TPI and I have 3.42:1 gears ratio, and my 1987 Iroc-z with The 5.0 carbureted has 3.23:1
Is it an automatic? If so, you may need to change the transmission filter and fluid.
My RPO says my 1996 Z28 has a 273 Posi ? Is that for real ? It doesn't feel like 273....feels much more like 373 or 342 !
Checking the build code, GU2, shows the rear gear is 2.73 and not 3.43 as noted with the six speed on most web sites. 3.43
yes the rear end is the same from 82-2002 the breaks and gear ratio's are what makes the difference
It might. Depending on width and bolt patterns. But the gear ratio maybe wrong. Consult a locak mechanic about checking into your gear ratios
