∙ 13y agoThe parenchyma is a term used to refer to the functional cells (usually eptihelial tissue) of an organ, in your case the thyroid gland. As opposed to stroma, which are the strucutral cells of an organ (usually connective tissue).
Your statement means that there are at least two types of functional cells in the thyroid gland.
