283 Powerpack heads have smaller combustion chambers, what gives a 9.25:1 compression ratio with flat top pistons. Powepack heads were always used with a ur barrel carburetor. It was an option that started with the 55-57 Chevys.

No, 283 has too small a bore. The old power pack heads that came on some 283's were 202,160's, so I would think the 305 heads should work just fine. Not sure about the resulting compression ratio though. The 305 intake might be aluminum, which would be lighter than the 283 intake.

The 283 has a larger bore diameter, so use the 283 head gaskets.

Depending on what side of the engine the alternator is located in the exhaust manifold or header there are two holes for a bracket that looks like the letter capital e with the top missing the other a hockey stick with a slot for adjustment the other end to the water pump

YES. That is a direct bolt on with no problems. The heads will bolt on, but the compression ratio will be different. Depending on which heads and which pistons, the compression ratio could be a lot different.
