I'm not sure if cocaine is orally active. Most likely what would happen is that most of it will metabolize (break down into other chemicals) before it reaches your brain. Also, severe stomach aches and cramps, diarrhea, and excessive gas may occur. There are a few misconceptions that the "drip" from your nose goes to your stomach and is released into your body. In fact, the cocaine gets stuck on your mucous membranes (sort of like wet skin, like the inside part of your cheeks or your gums) and get absorbed through there. The drip is actually excess cocaine running down from your nose into your throat, causing your throat to numb a little.

Swallowing cocaine is a severely unsafe thing to do. Cocaine does in fact slowly drip down your throat and into your stomach, and the effects of this drip are essentially limited to anesthetic. Swallowing cocaine however, is much different. I lack the scientific understanding of what exactly happens in your body, but people have died from swallowing as little as 1/3 gram in a baggy.

But if you are planning on taking cocaine orally, it's important to know that it is completely destroyed by acidity (i.e. your stomach acid). It's common in South American countries for people to take cocoa leaves and MASH them with lime juice before stuffing it in their gums, similar to chewing tobacco. Well my boyfriend got pulled over with his friend and he had to swallow a 50 of cocaine. He had been telling me he was sick, but wouldn't tell me why. Well when I went to pick him up, he was literally dying! He was a tall built nice looking guy before that and when I saw him he was a skinny twig. I asked what was going on and he finally told me. I would try to get him to eat as much as possible, because the cocaine was eating him alive! If you do swallow it, I suggest you go to the hospital asap! His gums were getting eaten, he would bleed from his mouth, cough up blood, his mouth smelt rotten, where it was decaying and his eyes were constantly dilating; something I've never seen before. He would get sharp pains in his sides, where it was eating his stomach up. He would hold his stomach so tight, he would squeeze my arm so tight his eyes would get blood shot and his veins would come out. I love him so much and I tried doing everything I could, even went out and got him whatever he felt like he could eat. I'd cook for him, I even stayed up for days to watch him, because I was afraid I'd lose him. Finally I was dropping him off at home and I said if I don't do something he's going to die. I went inside his house and told him he was going with me, so we took him to the hospital and they took care of him! So if I were you, I wouldn't think, I would go straight to the hospital because my experience was not a good one and it wasn't me who swallowed it.
