Bombur, after falling into the enchanted stream, fell into a deep sleep. This resulted in the other travelers having to carry him along until the spell wore off. Since Bombur was quite heavy, the others were slowed down considerably.

∙ 13y agoThe unfortunate incident was that Bombur fell in the river. It made him sleep a deep sleep that they were unable to wake him from. So the party had to carry him, which certainly slowed them down!
