A missed period is not always an indicator of pregnancy alone.

It is very common when you first start your period for it to be a bit irregular while your body establishes a cycle and routine for itself. Some women just have irregular cycles for many years, skipping some months, and others having longer, extended periods.
However, it is possible to become pregnant even if you are a virgin. It is extremely unlikely, but anytime semen is deposited near, or even around the vagina, it has the potential to swim upwards.
Missed periods can also be caused by weight loss or a hormonal imbalance. See your doctor if you are unsure of the cause of a missed period.
