You may just have a Soft Shell species turtle.
But in another case, a turtle's shell can be soft if:
- It's young, it will harden up as it gets older.
- Not living in a suitable environment with enough UVA/UVB light or enough heat in a basking area.
- Has an infection or other shell problem that needs to be examined.
if it is a baby it is because its shell hasn't yet strenghtened itself. but it could also be shell rot but most likey just a small mutation. i wouldn't worry about it.
If it is supposed to be a hard shelled turtle, it typically means they are unhealthy and you will need to research the kind of diet your specific breed of turtle needs.
Sounds like calcium deficiency !
Because of the sea water, its contracts.
It is not recommended because the soft shell turtle really has no protection from the other turtles
