Best Answer

the function of a muscle cell is, by definition, to move. this can be accomplished when the cell contracts. contracting makes it denser, which is why when you feel a relaxed muscle in your arm suddenly tense up, it hardens.
A muscle cell expands and contracts in order to allow the human body to control the movement of it's limbs.

Actually muscles do not move. They contract and make your body move as a result. The contraction of muscle is described by the sliding filament theory that explains how actin and myosin filaments move past each other inside muscle cells to make them contract.

Actin and myocin are the proteins. They slide over each other. So that muscle cell cotracts. It shortens the length of muscle.

How do muscle cells use fat cells when they burn?

Muscle cells don't use fat cells when they are burned. An increase in muscle can raise the metabolism causing the muscle cells to burn off the fat cells in storage.

Do plants have muscle?

No they do not have muscle cells, because they do not need to move. Even in the rare case of a plant that can move to some extent, such as a Venus fly-trap that can close its leaves over an insect, that motion is not done by means of muscles, but by other means.

What are some differences between epithelial cells and muscle cells?

One difference between epithelial cells and muscle cells is their location in the human body. Epithelial cells are skin cells on the outside of the body. Muscle cells are located in the muscle under the skin.

Which type of cell would be more likely to have many mitochondria fat cell or muscle cell?

Mitochondria is the part of cells that generate energy by turning nutrients and oxygen into fuel for the body. Muscle cells need this ability more because they are constantly working; fat cells do not need it as much.

What is a group of muscle cells called?

Muscle cells grouped together are called muscle tissue. The muscle cells contract and elongate to make the movement in the body parts. What cells make you move?

It's muscle cells that carry out the movement, and nerve cells that control the contraction of the muscle cells. Bone cells are also involved indirectly, by providing the framework for the muscles to attach to.

Your muscle certainly do. You move, that is you are motile. Plants move very little and are called sessile.
