- In Into the Wild, the first book in the original series, Firepaw starts to fall in love with Spottedleaf. She is a medicine cat, so their love could never have been, and she was killed at the ending of the book. It never said that Spottedleaf had fallen in love with Firepaw but in the play written by Erin Hunter, Spottedleaf's Honest Answer, only found online, Spottedleaf talks about her feelings towards Firstar. She fell in love with him around the time that he fell in love with her and is still in love with Firestar, even in Starclan, but she knew that their love could never be.
- In Fire and Ice, after Sandstorm was rescued by Fireheart from falling over the gourge, she started drifting away from her very good friend and possible future mate if not for Fireheart, Dustpelt. She stopped tormenting him and started being kinder to him and taking more notice of him than before. She and him eventually do become mates and take a large journey together in Firestar's Quest. After the quest, they have two kits, Squirrelkit and Leafkit. These two kits are the center of the next series, The New Prophecy, and then their kits, Jaykit, Hollykit, and Lionkit, are the center of the third series,The Power of Three.

In the book "The Darkest Hour" from the Warriors series by Erin Hunter, Fireheart reveals his love for Sandstorm. It is after a difficult battle, where Fireheart realizes the depth of his feelings for her.

Sandstorm, I think, started falling in love with Firestar when she was an apprentice and Firestar saved her from falling over the gorge in book two (Fire and Ice). But she completely fell in love with him sometime after she became a warrior. Firestar, though, didn't really fall in love with Sandstorm 'till about the middle of thr fourth book (Rising Storm). However, they only confessed their love to each other until right before Firestar thought of a plan to trick the dogs in book five (A Dangerous Path).

Why does Sandstorm like Firestar?
Sometime in the original series. I know that they were in love by The Darkest Hour, and I believe they began to like each other in Rising Storm. They both confessed their love for each other in The Dangerous Path. Sandstorm at least fell in love with Firestar in book three (Forest of Secrets). Maybe Firestar only fell in love with her in book four (Rising Storm), but Sandstorm had already fallen in love long before he fell in love with her.
