Unlike prions and viroids, viruses consist of two or three parts: all viruses have genes made from either DNA or RNA, long molecules that carry genetic information; all have a protein coat that protects these genes; and some have an envelope of fat that surrounds them when they are outside a cell. Viroids do not have a protein coat and prions contain no RNA or DNA.

In short, just say that all viruses have a protein coat and either DNA or RNA.

What are the differences between simple and complex viruses?

Simple viruses have a basic structure, with only a few genes and proteins, while complex viruses have a more intricate structure with multiple layers and components. Simple viruses typically cause mild infections and are easier to treat, while complex viruses can cause more severe diseases and may be harder to treat due to their sophisticated mechanisms of replication and evasion of the immune system.

Explain the statement Cells are the basic units of structure and function in living things.?

Yes.. All the organisms are made up of either single cell or multiple cells. Hence the cells are the basic unit of life.. The viruses are not considered as organisms by many and they are considered as particles. If viruses are considered as organisms, then its an exception.
