They Are Used In Engines And Other Vehicles, I Think. We Are Studying This In Gateway Tech.

Crown and Pinion usually refers to the main gears in a vehicles differential. Older rear wheel drive cars and trucks typically have a rear axle that is driven by the engine. That axle contains a differential, that contains the Crown and Pinion gears. The gears are used to change the direction the engine is rotating the crankshaft; to a rotating direction in the axle.
