The Latin names for temples were templum, aedes and donarium.

Rome had a great many temples. One of the best preserved ones is the Temple of Hercules Victor or Hercules Olivarium, which is by the river Tiber. One of the oldest ones is the Temple of Saturn in the Roman Forum. It was also a building which hosted the aerarium, the treasury of the city of Rome. The Temple of Ceres on the Aventine Hill was also one of the oldest ones. It was named after the leading deity of the trinity of Ceres, Liber and Libera. It was dedicated to all the three gods of the trinity. Now it is called with the modern names Aventine Triad, plebeian Triad or agricultural Triad. These gods were the patron gods of the plebeians and their cult was a plebeian one.

What 3 important people would a tourist want to see when visiting ancient rome?

You would not be visiting ancient Rome because that has long gone. You would be visiting modern Rome, which is totally different. If you are referring to a hypothetical visit to ancient Rome, that would depend on the time selected for the visit. The history of ancient Rome lasted 1200 years. There were different important people at different times. The above is certainly with merit. However, taking the view that a tourist would want to see the most outstanding people of ancient Rome, my opinion here is of course subjective. My list however would have to include Julius Caesar, Augustus Caesar and the Emperor Diocletion who's reforms kept the empire going for many more years than anyone might have expected. Why only emperors? Why not also men of culture, such as Cicero, Virgil, Horace, Ovid, Seneca or Tacitus? How much backwards and forwards in time travel would one need to do for this?

Crossroads of the World. In the ancient world people came to Rome to trade and because it was one of the most powerful governments in the ancient world. Today Rome still draws people because of its beauty, history, and the seat of the Catholic Church. I have been there 3 times and would go back for a 4th time if I had the money.
