The de facto language of the US is English, although it is not official at a national level, it is official in 31 states, Washington, D.C., and all four incorporated territories (Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, and US Virgin Islands). Other mainly spoken languages include Spanish (de facto in New Mexico and official in Puerto Rico), French (de facto in Louisiana and Maine), German, Mandarin, Italian, and Vietnamese.

Its a mean of communication, that has made a human being to deliver his feelings, emotions, orders etc. among others, Human being can share his thoughts among all others, if there were No language then we would have to talk with hand signals which is very difficult and time taking things.

If u meant about learning different languages, then you can be a Linguist or Interpreter in Ambassy, or you can deal in foreign affairs of any particular country.
