When used as a seasoning, no, black pepper is not dangerous to dogs. Dogs can eat meat or vegetables that have been lightly seasoned with black pepper. However, straight black pepper can cause irritation to the mouth and nasal membranes, including the traditional sneeze response.

The dog will only be hurt if it overeats and gets an ulcer- that is highly unlikely- vomits (again unlikely) or panics. The dog may panic in a reaction to chemicals in peppers that cause areas in contact with it to feel very hot. It shouldn't hurt, but just stick to dog food because you don't want diarrhea on your shoe.

No they will not be hurt, they will either eat them or leave them be after a taste, (unless the chiles are in a sauce or with oils, then they may eat them without notice.) As with anything, moderation is key and abrupt major changes in diet can always affect a dog's gastrointestinal system, but just a change in dog food brands can do that, too.

Just like people, some dogs like the taste of hot chiles and some do not. Many "Chileheads" have dogs that love the hot foods, too, and beg for table scraps from a "hot luck" dinner. Like with people, their taste buds "acclimate" to the capsaisin over time. They usually have no ill effects when eating them.

Studies have shown that chiles and capsaisin (the hot chemical in hot peppers) do not cause stomach ulcers or irritation in people or other animals. In fact, much more serious in that regard is regular black pepper.

You must be careful to avoid getting the Chile's oil on the dog where it can get in the eyes, and wash your hands after handling them and before touching or petting the dog (washing hands in milk or in toothpaste will help get rid of residual oils).

Dogs can eat bell peppers, and often like them. Hot peppers like chilies or jalapenos are not a good idea.
