The three-point line was added to my high school basketball court my senior year. That was the 1987-88 season. I remember this because we did not have enough girls to fill a varsity team and I never got the opportunity to shot a 3 pointer and of course I was an outside shooter. There is no telling how many 3 pointers I shoot before the line was adopted into the high schools.
The distance from the hoop to the three point is19 ft but for proffesionals it is22 ft
Three full timeouts and two 30-second timeouts are allowed in high-school basketball.
Anywhere inside the three-point line
The NBA introduced the three point line in the 1979-80 season at a length of 23'9" from the top of the key to a length of 22 feet in the corners. In the 1994-95 season, the NBA changed things so the three point line was a uniform 22 feet from the basket. The distance was reverted to 23'9" in the 1997-98 season and has been there ever since. The 19'9" distance is the distance of the college basketball three point line, which will be changed to 20'9" for the 2008-09 season
prior to the 1993-1994 year.
31 feet
Yes this is my question
In the NBA it's around 23 ft., in the NCAA it's around 20 ft.
The three pointer entered high school as soon as the NBA created the three point shot.
On May 3, 2007 the NCAA rules committee decided to lengthen the three point line to 20 feet 9 inches.
