Because they only came in a couple of years after it started when their hand was forced & then their concentration initially was in the Pacific as far as land forces was concerned.

Another front would be open for the Germans to fight in. So whermacht,Luftwaffe and kriegsmarine would have to send troops to the pacific. The best hitler would be able to do is to force civilians to train for the German military and speed up production of weapons.
