These medications are not equal. Tramadol was designed as an SNRI (antidepressant), and has a weak opioid component. Tramadol's pain relieving action works best on neuropathic pain. Hydrocodone is a semi synthetic opioid derived from codeine, as such it has better pain relieving effects. lf Tramadol is your only option at this time, bear in mind that it is combined with acetaminophen thus, should be used at maximum to 8 tablets per day.
You do not want to take two habit-forming pain killers together. Take the tramadol for moderate pain. If your pain gets worse, after a couple of hours you can switch over and take the hydrocodone/APAP combination for severe pain. Remember to take both of these just as the doctor said. Overdosing on either of these can be very dangerous.
The Hydrocodone tablet is a 10/660. It has 10 mgs of Hydrocodone, and 660 mgs of Acetaminophen (Tylenol).
It just depends on how what dosage you are prescribed. If it is hydrocodone 5/325 then there is 325 mg of acetaminophen (Tylenol). If it is hydrocodone 5/500 then there is 500 mg of acetaminophen (Tylenol). The 5 is the milligrams of hydrocodone in the pill and the 10 is the milligram of the hydrocodone
It is a 10/500 Hydrocodone tablet. It has 10 mgs of Hydrocodone, and 500 mgs of Acetaminophen (Tylenol). It's personally my favorite 10 mg Hydrocodone pill. :)
None, and don't take over 1000 mgs of Tylenol you can hurt yourself.
10 mg of hydrocodone. 660 mg of acetaminophen.
10mg is the strongest prescribed. There are different variations such as 10/325, 10/500, 10/660, and I think the make a 10/750. The larger numbers are the acetaminophen combined with the hydrocodone.
10mg hydrocodone/500mg acetaminophen. Generic for Lortab 10.
Hydrocodone 10/500 apap is obiously vicoden with 10mg of hydrocodone and 500mg of Tylenol/acetaminofen. The other numbers are just inscription codes to identify the pill. That is if your sure it is hydrocodone. Usually they will say m360 or Watson or other types. Hydrocodone 10/500 is usually knon a Lortab.
DO NOT DO THIS WITH OUT THE ADVICE OF A PHARMACIST Tramadol is significantly different then hydrocodone (lortab) even though they are both opioids. I can't give you information on their equivalency, you need to talk to a pharmacist. The most basic advice would be to stop taking the extended-release tramadol and start taking the lortab every 4 hours. Some information suggests that 50mg of tramadol taken 4 times a day is equivalent to 40mg of morphine per day. That would suggest that 200mg tramadol per 24hrs is equivalent to 40mg morphine per 24hrs (roughly). Since oral hydrocodone is considered approximately equal to oral morphine, the equivalent dose would be 40mg hydrocodone a day for each 200mg of tramadol a day. Because of the dangers in switching and errors in conversion, you should start at half of that. That means if you take 100 mg Ultram ER each day, you should now take 10mg hydrocodone (lortab comes as 2.5, 5, 7.5, and 10 mg hydrocodone along with 500 mg acetaminophen). Assuming you have 5mg/500mg lortab pills, I would take a quarter of a pill every 3 hours (1.25mg hydrocodone 8 times a day). If you take 200mg Ultram ER each day, start with 2.5mg hydrocodone (1 pill) every 3 hours (20mg a day). If you take 300mg Ultram ER, still start with 2.5mg every 3 hours. If those dosages don't help your pain, you'll need to slowly increase your dosage. A more advanced method would be to slowly decrease the ultram er (which may be impossible since its an ER fomulation, shouldn't be broken in half, etc.) and slowly increase the lortab Never take these medications any other way besides oral.
