∙ 15y agoMost tracks are 440 yards or about 400 meters.
Since five kilometers is 5,000 meters, we could get the answer you seek by the following:
5,000meters/400meters/lap =12.5
Or, if you run 12.5 laps around a 400 meter track you will have run 5 km.

∙ 9y agoThis would depend on what distance your laps are. If you are running around a standard track around a football field, then you would have to run 20 laps to equal 5 miles. (4 laps = 1 mile).

1 kilometer = 1000 metersTherefore 5 laps of the oval will equal 1 km and 25 laps of the oval will equal 5 km's.
1 km = 1000 m 2 km = 2000 m So: 2000m / 400m = 5 laps
A lap is not a regulation measurement. It can be almost any distance.
1 km = 1000 metres 5 km = 5000 metres 5000 metres = 5000/33 = 151.51 laps. NOTE : If the lap distance is actually 331/3 metres then the number of laps becomes 150.
In general 1 lap is 1/4 miles and 1 mile is 1.6 km. 2 laps make 0.8 km. So approx. 2.5 laps make 1km.
