Are all Massey Ferguson fe 35s grey and gold. My wife recently bought me one for Christmas which was the best present ever but mine is painted red and grey. It does say fe 35 on the serial plate?

Hello, If you look in Wilkmedia on TE20 it tells you there that the first red and grey 35 was in December 57 when Fergusons officially became Massey Ferguson and got rid of the Harris name hope this helps

I just purchased a Ferguson 'T 30" tractor. It does not have the serial plate. How can I identify the tractor so I can purchase the correct parts. It has 183 251 M2 on the rear axel. The # 2840 M2 is located on the lower mid section of the tractor. Linda?

I would suggest asking someone who works on tractors regularly. They would know how to tell the model. look on the left side of the engine block for a casting number starting with a Z. If it is Z129 then it is a TO30, Z134 is a TO35, Z120 is a TO 20 Or possibly a TE20

Why was Edmund Hillary on NZ 5 note?

In 1992 Hillary appeared on the updated New Zealand $5 note, thus making him the only New Zealander to appear on a banknote during his or her lifetime, in defiance of the established convention for banknotes of using only depictions of deceased individuals, and current heads of state. The Reserve Bank governor at the time, Don Brash, had originally intended to use a deceased sportsperson on the $5 note but could not find a suitable candidate. Instead he broke with convention by requesting and receiving Hillary's permission - along with an insistence from Hillary to use Aoraki/Mount Cook rather than Mount Everest in the backdrop. The image also features a Ferguson TE20 tractor like the one Hillary used to reach the South Pole on the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition.

What is the Firing order of a TE20 Ferguson tractor?

The answer is confusing... The official Ferguson Service Manual does not state a firing order for the 6 volt version of the TE-A20 (Standard Motor Co. Petrol Motor). For the 12 volt version of the TE-A20, the diesel (TE-F20), the vaporising oil models (TE-D20 & TE-E20), and the lamp oil model (TE-H20), the official Service Manual states that the firing order is 1-4-3-2. However, from observation of the distributor, on both my own TE-A20 and my father-in-law's one, which both function correctly, the firing order appears to be 1-2-4-3, as this is the order that the spark-plug leads are connected to the distributor (in a clockwise direction, viewing the distributor from above, which is the direction in which the rotor turns). My observations are confirmed by a post by Graham Boulter at Yesterday's Tractor Co.'s discussion board: http://www.ytmag.com/mf/messages/12855.html The I+T Ferguson Shop Manual has the firing order as 1342 , check rotation direction.

What mode of transport did Sir Edmund Hillary and his team use to travel to the South Pole?

On the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition of 1955 to 1958. Hillary and his team used converted Massey Ferguson TE20 tractors, fitted with an extra wheel on each side and full caterpillar tracks, developed by the expedition in the Antarctic. The track kits were easily removable and in light conditions the tractors were used on standard wheels and tyres. A canvas cabin was added for windproofing. Apart from this, the tractors were totally bog-standard. Two were even fitted with a standard farmyard hydraulic front-loader for loading and unloading supplies. One of the tractors used by Hillary's party is on display along with other British Trans Antarctic Expedition vehicles in the Canterbury Museum in Christchurch, New Zealand.
