This GMC I believe that it have a release cable under the dash. Where the brake pedal
attach with it. Every time you insert the key in ignition and turn over, you still have to
press the brake pedal that help release the cable to free the shifter. The cable the run from brake pedal to shifter could be about foot long or 3 feet long. It depend on the kind of shifter your car have. When the brake is press, it pull the cable to release the locking
device on the shifter so you can shift it. If it does not release, check the cable on the
brake pedal and the shifter for damage or defect. If it still good, check the primary cable
that runs from ignition switch to brake pedal that help release the secondary cable which
I explained above. More likely, you may need a whole steering column.
Does it help? Would you please be kind for a tips.

How do you remove the automatic shifter cablein a 1997 GMC sierra 1500
check that the neutral safety switch is engaging or working. this switch is usually on side of transmission u can also check for a blown fuse
Shift interlock. Push the brake and shift into gear and if it is cold out you may have to push hard on the button on the shifter while holding the brake.
Yes there is. If you have the floor mounted shifter there is a bulb in the console that is in need of replacement. Remove the panel to get at it.
There is a broken wire below your shifter in the console. This controls a solenoid that releases the key. The shifter in the center consle has a part that controls a current to solenoid in your steering column. A quick fix is a nail or piece of wire to release the key. This is in the steering column. There is a pop out that must pushed in to release the key. A longer term fix to replace the part in the shifter.
no
Yes it's the tow button on the shifter
you have to cut in off the shifter its self . but there are no threads to bolt another one on so u must weld a bolt on to the top of the shifter
antifreeze coming from back of intake on 1993 gmc sierra
if there is a body lift on it then you will need to cut your floor board if not then check the linkage on your shifter if that is good then something is wrong with your transfer case
When the steering wheel unlocks, the shifter sometimes does not..Turn on key,see that the steering wheel is unlocked, then turn the wheel back andforth till the shifter releases. If it won't release, the plastic component in the column is broken. . .Very rarely does the plastic break,it just gets worn, thus making it hard to release. . .Parking on a hill without the Ebrake is what causes this to wear. . .Pull the upper column apart and replace the plastic mechanism and you will cure the problem. . . . . .
