Loosen the alternator and take off the tension pulley. It will be a little tough to get the pully on but it is an easier then trying to fight the belt. The tension pully is spring loaded so it is a little more adjustable.

In the V6, you will have a tensioner indicated in the diagram under the hood. Route the belt as indicated (if you have no sticker, go to Autozone and ask them to print a diagram for you). Then insert either a 1/2" breaker bar or a 1/2" drive socket into the tensioner's arm (square hole) to move the tensioner pulley into a position where you can slip the belt under it. (it's gonna be tight!) I found that I had to use a socket to rotate the crankshaft in order to get the belt all the way on due to the metallic knuckle that sits close to the crank pulley. The ribs make it nearly impossible to slide the belt all the way under that piece.
The rear belt is pretty much the same with fewer pulleys to deal with, but the diagram should clue you in to that.

∙ 8y agoim assuming you have the diagram on the hood. Run the belt in the proper sequence. you will leave getting it under the tensioner for last. take the top bolt out of the alternator and just loosen the bottom one. alternator will pivot just a little,but you need all you can get with these cars. now force the tensioner up with a bar and slide the belt under it. secure alternator and your done. i like to put a wrench on crank pully and rotate engine by hand just to check belt alignment.

∙ 13y agoYou should not have to. It is self adjusted and spring loaded. Check the tensioner to see if it is working properly, if not, then replace it.
a good way of drawing the solar system is you can get the sun (the biggest star) then you can get Mercury and put it by the sun but smaller then you can get venus and put it by Mercury even smaller than Mercury then you can get Earth and put it by Venus size is similar then you draw the asteroid belt then you get Juipter and put it by the asteroid belt then you can get satern and put it next and then you get uranus next then last sorry i forgot mars then last is Pluto which is a dwarfh plant cause the plant is to small and to far away from the sun then neptune

DISCONNECT THE MOTOR MOUNTS ON THE LEFT SIDE, PLACE JACK UNDER OIL PAN, PUT PIECE OF WOOD BETWEEN JACK AND OIL PAN AND RAISE ENGINE. THIS WILL GIVE CLEARANCE BETWEEN FRAME RAIL AND IDLER. REPLACEMENT IDLERS ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE FROM FORD, SO YOU HAVE TO KNOCK OUT BEARING AND REPLACE IT WITH NEW ONE. BEARINGS ARE COMMON AT MOST JOBBERS FOR LESS THAN 5 BUCKS. REMOVE SERPENTINE BELT REMOVE IDLER BOLT AND PULLEY, REPLACEMENT IS REVERSAL OF THIS. LOWER ENGINE, TIGHTEN MOUNTS AND YOU ARE READY TO GO.

take the fan belt off and put another one on...

A fan belt diagram can be obtained from most auto-parts stores. The store that the fan belt was purchased from will most likely have a fan belt diagram.
Put your new fan belt around the pulleys of your 1992 Chevy Blazer. Tighten the fan belt with the tensioner pulley.

The 1990 dodge caravan has a transverse mounted engine therefore it doesn't have a fan belt!
You have to take off the alternator to be able to reach the fan . After you should oiul the belt to slip on the fan very easy . Put the alternator back on and your ready to go .
10w30 would be a good choice. Any major brand is fine.
If you are paying $ 300 for the car, then you just might have to put a thousand or more in for repairs. Check it out.
