Unless you invite your friends using the "invite friends" at the top right of the screen, and selling the items you earn. The other way you could get wooz is paying for it.
But, note that I tested it by sending a recruit to my friends, and when they said they confirmed, my character didn't get wooz nor beex at all, even though I'm a VIP. It still didn't work for another character that is a non-VIP I made.
