I found this switch inside the car under the dash on the wall. Look where the clutch pedal arm hits the back of the wall underneath the dash. There is a little switch that pushes in when the clutch is depressed. This can be unscrewed with a wrench and pulled out from the back and replaced. There are the electrical wires that just need to be moved to the new one. Hope that helps.
On the passengers side of the trans about even with the front of the door fan shaped switch held on by two bolts.
I suggest taking it apart and cleaning it before you think about replacing.
The switch is nearly $300
To remove, flatten out the retaining washer side under nut, remove large nut, remove smaller ( 14mm ) bolt on the adjustment side. Connector for the wires is top left of engine at the firewall, black connector with about 8 wires, you will need to snip 3 or so zip ties to get it free, the switch will slide off the bolt protruding from the trans..
cleaning is easy, 6 screws in back, pull apart, clean out all that old grease, pay special attention to the two contacts on the sweeper arm, they should move in and out easily as they have springs underneath and are the man contacts, apply new di-electric grease and reassemble.
reassemble and align before tightening, easiest way is to put trans selector in R and move switch until reverse lights come on.
bad move why dont you just adjust it 80% are out of adjustment from slack in shift linkage loosen switch and rotate it toward park position.. to bypass its easier to tap in your ignition switch starter feed wire and run directly to starter if it starts when you push the shifter forward while turning key switch is good but needs adjustment
I'm pretty sure it's illegal to if equipped with one. If you do youwill experience transmission and back up light problems. The computers uses it to shift the transmission and turn on the backup lights. It detects the gear it is in.
I don't think anyone can help you with this one. If I'm not mistaken it's illegal to bypass the neutral safety switch if it is equipped on the car. Is there a reason you need it disabled? Is it broke? Trail only vehicle?
For manual 2 wire, just cross the two wires, for auto, find the plug ( Black ) at the firewall on the passengers side near the trans fluid dipstick.
I do not recommend doing it since it will start in any gear, and your backup lights still won't work.

Sure, just jump the two center wires on the switch connector ( side of connector with no clip ), this can be found at the firewall on the passengers side of the engine.
I don't recommend this because now it will start in any gear.

It is built into the PRNDL switch on most cars and impossible to bypass.
You shouldn't even think of doing that. Just replace the switch.
