Generally members of the kingdom plantae are autotrophs- which means that they make their own food. They are able to this through photosynthesis. By taking in energy from the sun they are able to convert the energy into food - glucose and produce ATP (adenosine triphosphate).
However for chemtrophs such as cactus it is a different process.
Most heterotrphic protists gain their energy and nutrtion by feeding on other things. They can act as a predator, decomposer, and as a parasite.
1. Autotrophs: perfoemed photosynthesis
2. heterotrophs: intake organic molecules to produce energy
3. self-consumed: eat their own proteins or thiir body organs
Funguslike protists get their energy from dead or decaying organic matter.
by sun light
it gets it by moving around.
they trap the suns energy and produce sugars
Protists are the miscellaneous group out of the six kingdom, so as long as they are eukaryotic they are protist. They can be heterotrophs or autotrophs, they can be multicellular or single-celled

Different kinds of protists get their food in different ways. Some protists can move and can take in food like animals do. Plant-like protists need to absorb the sun's energy in order to make food inside their bodies. Other protists like fungus grow above their food source to get nutrients. Some protists engulf bacteria and digest them internally, by extending their cell membrane and forming a vacuole around the bacteria. This bacteria is then taken in by phagocytosis. Protists such as Dinoflagellates, Euglena, and Algae are Phototrophs that get their energy from sunlight. Protists like Apicomplexa, Trypanosomes, and Amobae are Organotrophs that get their energy from organic compounds.

1. By the way they get their nutrition a. photoautotroph (do photosynthesis, have chloroplasts to produce their own energy like plants) b. heterotroph (either absorb nutrients like fungi or ingest nutrients like animals) c. mixotrophs (combine both ways to obtain nutrition) 2. The way they move a. with cilia (ciliates) b. with a flagella (flagellates) c. by expanding and contracting their cytoplasm (look at a video of ameoba moving)
