∙ 9y agoIf you have a heavy chest feeling that is not tight and you are having no breathing issues, it should still be checked out. It could be something as simple as acid reflux but it could be more severe.

Tightness in the chest can be a symptom that could be related. There is also a heavy weight feeling upon ones chest that many with this disease have that should be checked out by their doctor.
If you sometimes have difficulty breathing and get pains in the chest, head, and stomach, you should see a cardiologist and a pulmonologist to get a proper diagnosis.
You could either be having a heartattack or your nervous or anxious about something.
If you have pain in your inner left arm that radiates to the shoulder, associated with left jaw pain with a feeling of crushing pain on chest, heavy breathing and a general feeling of doom. These are precursors to a heart attack. call 911 immediately.

The muscles of the chest wall & the diaphragm change the volume of the chest ... thus the volume of the lungs, which is what breathing is.

Not as such, but being overweight can lead to other breathing issues due to the extra weight on the chest and around the neck.
Numbness on the left side of the chest that travels to the thigh can be caused by a pinched spinal nerve. If the numbness continues consult your physician.
