Potential energy of any body depends on mass and height of the body (as P.E=mgh)if the distance is same then rock will have more P.E
When a ball is about to fall it has potential energy because of its height. When a ball is about to hit the ground it still has some potential energy since it has't hit the ground yet, but much less than it had when it started falling.
unlit match a rock held in your hand.
It has potential energy but when it is in movement it will possess kinetic energy
A rock on top of a hill has potential energy, not kinetic energy. If it starts rolling down the hill then the potential energy transforms to kinetic energy.
The higher rock has more potential energy

Yes rocks do have potential energy. Potential energy is defined as energy stored within a physical system. It is called potential because it has the potential to be converted into other forms of energy, such as kinetic energy which can do work in the process. This means that a rock can have potential energy as simple as, a rock held at an elevation. If dropped it's potential energy is then being converted to kinetic energy.
When the ball falls down, the potential energy decreases (potential energy is greater at a greater height), but the kinetic energy (energy due to movement) will increase.
It loses it's kinetic energy, the energy of motion. If it were logded against a rock on a hill, it has potential energy stored because of it's position on the hill.

Potential energy.
A rock at the edge of a cliff has potential energy. This energy may be converted to kinetic energy by the force of gravity if it falls off the cliff.

Not really... Kinda? Potential energy is the total possible energy based on position. Ex: A rock on the floor will have less potential energy (since it's on the floor and it wont have energy since it's not moving), than a rock 100 meters in the air. (More potential energy since it will falling). Or a rubber band being pulled back has more potential energy than when its not pulled. Conserve means to save/store, and things cant really "store" energy.
