Yes you can. Dairy cows that are no longer able to produce milk on the dairy farm are sold to the auction mart or slaughter houses for more money than beef cows bring at the auction mart. Dairy cows are only able to produce milk for only a few years, and as they get older their milk production ability decreases, as well as health problems such as mastitis and foot rot and other lameness issues increase as they get older. So, since there is a huge market for culled dairy cows, dairy cows that are not able to meet the producer's standards in terms of health and production, are sold to that market and turned into beef for the human and pet population, as well as for livestock producers who need animal protein to meet their animals' nurtitive needs; these include pigs and poultry.

Most dairy cows' carcasses are of such low quality that little meat is used in high-end restaurants. The meat is ground up for ground beef and sausages, as well as for dog and cat food and put into poultry and hog feed. Most of the hamburger you eat is from cull dairy cows when you eat a burger at MacDonalds, Burger King, A&W, Wendy's and other fast-food chains, and also can be found as ground beef wrapped in cellophane served on a stryofoam platter in your local supermarket.
