If there are any air leaks on around the pump cover due to bad o-ring seal ectt. this will suck in air and blow it back into pool through return lines. If you have a see through cover on your pump, if there is any air sucking in, you will likely see air bubbles. If there are no air leaks anywhere in the plumbing the water under the see through cover should be clear. Also cracks in your pipes from skimmer or main drain can often cause air to get in your system as well as cause difficult start up of pump.
