Can you determine pregnancy from a blood test?

A pregnancy blood test or a pregnancy serum test is a test that measures the exact amount of the pregnancy hormone, human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), in the bloodstream of a woman to detect pregnancy. Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is a hormone that is produced by the placenta of a pregnant woman. It is detectable in the blood and urine within 10 days of fertilization. There are two types of blood pregnancy tests, namely, quantitative blood test which measures the exact amount of hCG in the blood and qualitative hCG blood test which gives a simple yes or no answer to whether you are pregnant or not.

You have tested negative on a home pregnancy test and a blood pregnancy test and still feel very pregnant so what is the possibility you still can be?

Don't risk it, see a doctor.. Pregnancy tests aren't always exact.

How can test a pregnancy?

If you mean how to see if you are pregnant, then you could do a home pregnancy test which you have to pee on and it measures your hCG which is a hormone only found in pregnant women. You can also go your local doctor and ask for a blood test. There are two tests from the doctors; Quantitative Blood Test - which measures you exact amount of hCG or the Qualitative Blood Test - which gives you a basic yes or no answer to whether you are pregnant or not. Pregnancy tests are around 97-99% accurate, but with a home pregnancy test, be sure to do 2-3 just to make sure.

I don't know the exact chances, but it's certainly possible, so you should take a pregnancy test.

Why do pregnant women snore?

Imight not be exact on the actual pints, but u gain almost 2 pints of blood when u become pregnant. Meaning u will have more blood in ur veins, so its like ur capillaries become enlarged making ur nasal cannal smaller. Causing u to snore. Lots of women, including me become congested during pregnancy, and that will also cause it.

You are feeling dizzy and nauseous your period is late and tested negative on the pregnancy test?

I feel the same exact way. Maybe a blood test will do.

Can a negative blood test be wrong after three missed periods because you've had 3 missed periods since coming off the pill but a blood test and hpt tests have been negative?

It sounds as though your system is takingg a while to get back into gear after coming off the pill. Give it time. I would certainly say you are not pregnant. To echo the excellent answer already provided, I just wanted to clarify something you said in your question; the blood tests that we do for pregnancy do not just come back negative or positive--they tell the exact level of the hormone associated with pregnancy that is in the body. If it comes back at non-pregnant levels, the person is not pregnant. If you are trying to get pregnant, I'm sorry that it has not happened yet; sometimes it takes quite a while after stopping BCPs. Hope this helps! Dr. B.

How much hormone do you have to show in your blood to be pregnant?

The hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (better known as hCG) is produced during pregnancy. It is made by cells that form the placenta, which nourishes the egg after it has been fertilized and becomes attached to the uterine wall. Levels can first be detected by a blood test about 11 days after conception and about 12 - 14 days after conception by a urine test. In general the hCG levels will double every 72 hours. The level will reach its peak in the first 8 - 11 weeks of pregnancy and then will decline and level off for the remainder of the pregnancy. There are two types of blood tests. A quantitative blood test measures the exact amount of hCG in the blood, and a qualitative hCG blood test gives a simple yes or no answer to whether you are pregnant or not.The beta hCG test(quantitative blood test), can measure the exact amount of hCG in the blood. Because it can detect even trace amounts of hCG, this is a very accurate test. HCG levels generally double approximately every 2 days for the first four weeks of pregnancy. An hCG level of less than 5mIU/ml is considered negative for pregnancy, and anything above 25mIU/ml is considered positive for pregnancy.

Is hcg and beta hcg the same test for pregnancy?

They are similar. HCG tests look for the HCG hormone in either blood or urine, but it is only detected at a certain level, 20 units, I believe. Beta HCG, on the other hand, is a blood test that detects the exact amount of HCG in your bloodstream. It will give the doctor an exact number, so technically, pregnancy can be diagnosed sooner.
