Technically speaking, glands are organs that secrete something. (Salivary gland secretes saliva, adrenal gland secretes steroid hormones.) People erroneously refer to lymph nodes as "glands" but they are not. Tonsils are collections of lymph tissue that helps fight infections and are NOT truly glands.
