Herbivorous dinosaurs ate the plants that lived when they did. Most species of dinosaurs lived before flowering plants or grasses were common, and therefor probably ate ferns, cycads, horsetails, and conifers.

A lot of dinosaurs were herbivores. Sauropods and ceratopsians were some of them.
How you could tell an herbivorous dinosaur from a carniverous dinosaur was sometimes the contents of their stomach, but mostly the teeth. Herbivores had flat, grinding teeth in the back of their mouths, like molars! Carnivores had sharp, pointy teeth for tearing into flesh. Some herbivore names are bonitasaura, brachiosaurus, dystrophaeus, and titanosaurus.
