Any breed of dog can be vicious. Its all in how you bring them up. I've had 3 dobermans in my lifetime. 2 are still with me. My ole girl is 13 now. My male is 2. They are excellent guard dogs. At the same time they play with my 3 yr old grandson. They have never shown aggression to any friends. They are wary of strangers at 1st, but will warm up to anybody invited into house. If I was to name dogs I think of as vicious, I would say cocker spaniel, chow-chow, German Shepherd. I was a Dog Groomer for 15 yrs and these are the dogs who always gave me headaches. I think Dobermans are excellent family dogs. Buying from a good breeder is essential. As is meeting both parents. I wouldn't have any other breed.

A funny story to go with this came from my daughter who does house appraisals. She had an appt with a gentleman. As soon as she arrived at his house, he said Come with me, we are going to play a game. He led her to back yard where his doberman was contained in a fenced yard. He looked at her and said "Play along" and then proceeded to say.."HI, how are ya, its so great to see you, welcome to my house!!!". He said "you'll be fine now to enter yard". My daughter was able to enter yard after owner left to complete her measurements of the property.

Only if trained to be that way. Actually, having owned this breed in the past, they can be very calm and playful ... but are protective of their masters.

For having owned and trained many; I'd say that they are most probably the least aggressive breed there is. They make good defense or guard dog because they are very intelligent and learn well. They also have a kinda 6th sense; an empatic bond with their master that I've never experienced with any other race and allow them to 'understand' the situation and the proper reaction well.
Dobermans are aggressive depending on the owner. i have had a doberman for 2 years now and he has never bitten or even growled at anybody that i bring in to my house. but they are known for guard dogs so they do protect you from intruders.

No, that's just a stereotype that comes along with the breed, just like pit bulls, and some others. There's no such thing as a vicious dog, just bad owners. If you are a good owner and know how to treat and handle your dog, you will have a good, obedient dog. a dog's behavior is solely based on how it's 'raised' and its perception of the situation at hand. If it feels it's being challenged or something like that, the dog will no doubt go into a defensive mode that may lead to hit 'attacking' or protecting itself or another.

The Doberman Pinschers are not vicious, but extremely loyal. They will go to extensive lengths to protect their owner/family, which can lead to a 'vicious' behavior. I necessarily wouldn't call it vicious, but protective rather.

Is there such thing as a mini Doberman?

NO THERE IS NOT! There are Doberman Pinschers and then there are Miniature Pinschers. They both have the same markings and look very similar aside from the obvious size difference. However, they are not at all related. The Miniature Doberman originated in Germany and were a breed of Italian Greyhounds and Dachshunds. Also, Mini Pinschers originated much earlier than the Doberman. Calling the Min Pins "Miniature Dobermans" is a very common mistake. I have two Doberman Pinschers (:

How do you get a white doberman?

White Doberman Pinschers or Albino Doberman Pinschers are born when two parents carrying the recessive "Z" Gene are paired together. While many people think white dobermans are a novelty dog they are actually looked down on by the AKC and the DPCA. White doberman pinschers have a tendency to carry more hereditary disease, have weaker immune systems, and have shorter life spans than the other colour variations within the breed. No reputable breeder would ever breed to a dog who even carried the Z Gene or who had a white doberman in their lines. It is not good for the dogs, and it serves only to weaken the breed. Check out the Doberman Pinscher Club of America - DPCA.org for more information.

What country are Doberman Pinschers from?

Dobermann dogs are from Germany. It is almost certain there is not pinscher dog bred into the Dobermann. The USA is the only country that has not dropped the pinscher name.
