they obviously struggled because all of heir crops had died> another factor would definitely be that most animals also died which means no meat and that leaves us with water. many people died simply because there was no water and a human body can't survive 3 days without water. i think that there were no people in that area that survived the explosion or even all the other factors. so really people couldn't have coped
