Try setting the A/c unit to 65 and see if that brings the room temp to 75? Also is the A/c unit you have a window unit? If yes is it properly sealed through the wall or window??? No open gaps for cold air(A/C)to escape? Is the Unit the right size for the room size you are trying to cool, also is the unit itself working properly? Does it have a proper freon charge(is it blowing out cold air from the vent)does it have a dirty air filter? Is it too humid in the area you live at, humidity will make the best A/C units work like garbage causeing the condenser lines etc to freeze up and the unit to actually stop blowing cold air until it heats up enough to melt the ice off the lines and start working all over again until it freezes up once more.
