Zimbabawe was not a Portugese colony, it was a British colony.

Mozambique was indeed a Portugese colony.

Both did suffer flight of the more affluent classes after gaining independence, though that flight began long before the actual Independence Day.

Zimbabwe didn't formally gain independence. The Ian Smith government unilaterally declared independence from Britain. Then it endured a long civil war with eventual victory going to the revolutionary forces of Robert Mugabe's ZANU party as well as several minor parties.
