Your car wont start when turning the ignition you hear a clicking sound The radio and lights come on The starter and battery are about 2 months old what do you think?
Did you buy the battery from new or was it a spare? Clicking sound when trying to turn key in ignition is usually low battery. The radio and lights may still work for a few minutes if there is enough charge left but the engine wont turn over. Turn off all lights, alarm and radio - wait 20minutes and try to turn engine over. Or failing that do what I've said below: Get someone to jump start your car with jumper leads. Once its running, drive your car around for half hour to one hour to re-charge battery. If fault isn't with battery then it could be alternator or spark plugs. Dodgy spark plugs can cause the car not to start. You probably have a loose connection or corrosion. Clean battery terminals and ends of wires. try the starter solenoid Make sure your battery posts are clean and the cable connectors are clean & tight. If this is not problem don't have another answer.
You might have to replace the ignition swith.

98 Cherokee ltd won't start when you turn key all ignition lights come on but when you get to where the car should actually start there is no sound battery and starter replaced alarm reset also fail?
Answer . \nHave the neutral safety switch checked. Try putting the vehicle in Neutral and starting. Also "jiggle" the shifter to see if it'll start.
2002 Chrysler TC van won't start All lights are on so battery is fine. Turn the key and all you hear it the clicking of the ignition. I think it may be the starter but it gave no sign it was failing?
if the starter is like the starter on the 1997 then it has an internal solenoid that has connections that goes bad. very simple to fix, only cost about 3 dollars for the repla…cement parts. only problem is getting the starter out of it's spot in the engine compartment if you don't have it up on a lift.
with today cars there are several relays which are used to send electricity to certain parts of your electrical system, such as a fuel pump relay, or a starter relay. one thin…g i tell people to do is have some one try to start your car with the lights on if the lights go off while trying to start the battery is dead . if the lights stay lit with very little dimness then you have a starter problem. Could be loose or dirty battery terminals, bad cable, starter solenoid. load test battery just because it has 12 volts does not mean there is enough amps to turn over check corroded terminals especially side terminals pull them off and pull bolt out and check both sides for corrosion
Why wont my 89 Toyota Camry turn over We replaced the battery thinking that was it...could it be the starter or the alternator all we can hear is a soft click when you try to turn the car on...HELP?
Answer . It sounds like your starter or cellinoid is shot.Either buy a new one or rebuild old starter.Hope this helps:)
Car wont startonly hear clicking sounds in your integrawhen you try to start itwhat is wrong with iti know for sure its not the battery?
try cleaning the engine or puting more fluids in the car
What if your car wont start when turning the ignition you hear a clicking sound The radio and lights come on The starter and battery are about 4 years old?
Could be:. Seized engine. Weak battery. loose or corroded battery cables. Bad starter solenoid. Bad starter. Bad neutral or clutch safety switch
My 1997 Chevy Monte Carlo lights and radio will come on in the car and all of the lights on the dash light up but it will click but wont crank up is it the starter or start switch relay.?
Assuming that you have checked the battery and that's not the problem (many times you will have enough juice to light the dash and headlights but not enough to make the starte…r turn the motor over) I would recommend you take out the starter and check the solenoid (commonly referred to as the Bendix). You can do that by applying 12VDC to the solenoid (+) and ground and see if it pops out. Once you've done that apply power to the starter itself and see if it turns over. If it doesn't, as I suspect it won't than you have your problem.. Make sure that your battery is in good condition.....and check to make sure all of your cable connectins are free of any corrosion and are all tight......the starting system has to have maxium voltage available, in order for it to work properally.
Why would a car not turn over even if the battery and starter have been replaced When you try to start it it only clicks when you turn the ignition switch?
If all you get is a single click when you try to start the engine, check the starter solenoid/relay. If you get a series of rapid clicks, look for a loose battery/starter cabl…e. If you get a single click and everything goes completely off, check for a loose battery cable (more likely the positive).. Answer . You need to check all earth connections. battery to chassis & chassis to engine/gearbox. a quick and simple way to check is to attach a jump lead. from the negative battery terminal to a good clean spot on the engine. best wishes. good luck
Its the starter or celenoid
My 1999 Subaru Legacy wont start thought the battery was shot so i relplaced it but it still just makes a click sound when i turn the key the radio still works but car wont start can you help?
The biggest nistake a would-be mechanic can do is to start buying and replacing parts hoping to eventually solve whatever is wrong with the vehicle. It is much wiser to invest… $11-$14 on a repair manual (Chilton or Haynes) for your vehicle and use the trouble-shooting guides to help find the cause(s) of the problem. If you can't afford to buy a manual, they are availble for checkout at most public libraries.. At any rate, the click you describe more than likely indicates a bad starter solenoid/relay. But don't just run out and buy one - you can check it out using the manual as a guide. If nothing else, whichever component (battery, starter, etc,( you think may be at fault can be checked at your auto parts store (usually at no charge( before you invest in a replacement.
Check the charge on the battery, it may be faulty even though its not old. If the battery is charged then the starter motor may be old, brushes wear out over time.
may be a bad starter..... or if the engine is cranking with no start it could be the ignition wires
If a car wont start but all lights come on and when you turn the key you hear clicking is that the starter?
Yes, the clicking is the starter, but there's probably nothing wrong with it. Your battery doesn't have enough juice to turn the starter motor (draws lots of current), but sti…ll has enough to turn on the lights and accessories. Try jump starting it or trickle charge the battery.
i would say it would be your battery it might need chargeing or you might just need a new one you can take your battery to super cheap or most garages to get tested it only ta…kes a sec to do if you need any more help or info please email j& m mechanical email@example.com
After replacing the battery after a week my car doesn't start anymore when i put the key in the ignition and go to start the car all the lights turn off in the car and all i hear is a click?
New Battery Doesn't Help It probably is a defective alternator or generator which is not charging the new battery, and thus the new battery is now almost fully discharged. …Get a battery charger, hook it up properly to your auto battery, and set it according to the instructions with the charger. Also get a cheap Volt-Ohm meter or just a voltmeter. With the meter, check and record the battery voltage [between the two terminals on the battery] before turning the charger on, and... After about two hours of charging, turn the charger OFF, and with the meter recheck the voltage. IF the voltage has increased, then reconnect and restart the charger [reset to "trickle" charge rate, or the lowest charge rate possible]. At the lowest charge rate possible, OR if the charger has an "automatic" setting, charge the battery overnight. IF that gets your car going, then the next day take it to your local Autozone, O'Reilly, Advance, etc.] In my area, all of these auto parts stores have handheld testers that can check battery condition, alternator operation, and your vehicle's electrical system. Our stores provide this service at no charge, FREE.
What is wrong when there is no clicking sound and absolutely no crank when you turn the ignition key to start the car - tried to jump the battery.... still nothing?
try checking your fuses and fuse-able links
