Your Homeowner's policy may provide some limited coverage for domestic employees - check with your agent. However, even if it does it's a good idea to preserve your insurability as a homeowner by limiting the kinds of claims you might make against that policy. If Work Comp isn't readily available to you because of high minimum premiums, etc., ask your agent about Occupational Accident (Occ Acc) coverage. It can be customized to provide the coverages you and your employee find most important - and at limits that you choose. If you only employ 1 person, depending on your state, there's a good chance that you are exempt from having to carry Comp, yet you would still be liable if you go "bare" (without coverage) and Occ Acc can help ameliorate that risk. If you throw a party and have a short term worker, such as an off-duty cop directing traffic, caterers, waiters, clean-up crews, decorators, materials delivery & set up guys, etc., there's a short term policy available online that can give them short term Occ Acc coverage - and it even includes Contingent Liability which provides extra protection for you if they allege in a suit or are deemed to be an employee instead of a contractor. Of course if they already have Workers Comp that applies to their work for you, you will want to be named as an Additional Insured on that policy.

I was injure on the job, and have had back pain every since. I would like to move home, to get family help. Would i be deny workmans comp, If i relocate to Califorina.?

In short, no. If you were going to get workmans comp before, you should still get it. That said, this may be different on a state to state basis or even a case by case basis. i would advise calling a lawyer for legal advice at this point.

If your employer handles their own workmens comp benefits is it legal for your case manager to require you to work at a non-profit organization while your injury heals?

they may find you employment, anywhere of similar distance from your home, similar to travel currently. The employment, MUST, be within your work restrictions. Employer is responsible to pay you at your workmans comp rate.

Do you have to have workman's comp in Louisiana?

Answer construction in LouisianaIn order to aquire contracting or home-improvement license you must have workmans comp. AnswerAll 50 states require Workers Compensation but most if not all allow for some exemptions. However, exemptions, due to number or type of employees, for example, are from carrying insurance, NOT from liability. So before you forgo coverage, make sure you have fulfilled your state reporting requirements and can write a big check! In Texas alone, an alternative to Comp known as Non-Subscription is available, and in 47 states VOCAL is available as a short term alternative to Comp for volunteers and self employed workers in the entertainment and hospitality industries (conventions, parades, concerts, wedding receptions, football concessions, etc.)

What if the company you work for has the office you work out of in the one of the bosses home and you fall at work due to neglect of outside lighting can you get a settlement from the workers comp ins?

You normally do not get a settlement from workman's comp, you are usually treated and they cover the cost through your workman's comp insurance. Depending on the state you live in, once you have agreed to be treated through workman's comp, you can no longer legally sue your employer.

Am i liable in Tennessee if a home health worker falls and gets hurt in my home can the workers employer's insurance cover me as an insured?

No. The company has Workman's comp for that sort of thing. When a home heath care worker is providing service in your home, the home is just an extension of their workplace. You would not be liable, Unless of course you intentionally assaulted or pushed the person down.
