Did you install the thermostat right side up? Or upside down?
Sounds like thermostat is not opening and needs replacing
No
The thermostat is inside of the water inlet on top of the motor. Disconnect the top water hose, then unbolt the water inlet. The thermostat can then be changed.
Check the coolant in the 96 Taurus. Check to insure that the thermostat is working properly, and that the water pump is working.
this could be due to defective or clogged thermostat
Change your thermostat.
Yes. I got a Taurus 93 and has the same. Very poor heating air inside the car in the morning. Also the temp gauge was always at the very firs line at the bottom. Solution: my mechanic changed the Thermostat. And the problem was gone ... by the coolant :-) Explanation: a bad or failed Thermostat is always in "open". So the water circulate freely and getting colder every moment when pass troght the radiator. A good thermostat only let pass a little part of the water when the engine is cold - in other words it works almost "close".
check or replace thermostat
Change the thermostat. lol. Simple but the water pump wont work if the thermostat is stuck closed. Good luck. Kyle
Try changing the thermostat.
