Will narcissists always come back to a good source after they find another?

My best guess, based on experience, is that the N will always attempt to keep a source close by. The N will, at least, attempt to ensure they can call upon the source when needed. By this I mean the N will keep some type of contact with a good source. They will drop messages or contact a source for a small insignificant reason, just to know that they still can have contact, if needed. The N will NEVER let a good source free of their own accord. They will keep whatever small crumb of attention. This is what they do. They know that they can keep a source dangling for an infinate amount of time. The N will never be the one to initiate the true and total break up of the relationship. They (the N) will always keep any type of communication possible, whether that be a call once every six weeks or once every 12 weeks. The N just needs to know that the source will continue to speak with, care about, fight with, whatever.....even negative contact is okay with the N, so long as it is CONTACT! The only way to free yourself from an N is to NEVER-EVER-EVER have any type of contact again. I mean NEVER. As I stated above, even negative contact is contact, and the N twists it in their mind that at least the source still acknowledges that there was some type of communication and that MUST mean that the source at least has some type of feeling for the N, otherwise the source will have totally ignored any attempt of contact.
