A king size mattress is 76 inches long and 80 inches wide. It is the second-biggest commercially available mattress size, behind the California king.
It varies, which is why mattress pads and fitted sheets state that they fit a range of depths.
King size sheets will not fit on a Calfornia king size bed. The fitted sheet will fit but the top sheet will be 4" shorter. A king is 4" longer and a california king is 4" wider.

A bed 68 inches wide and 82 inches long would need California King sized sheets, although the standard California King mattress is 72x84. A Queen is generally 60 inches wide while a King size mattress is usually 76 inches wide. Both King and Queen beds are 80 inches long.

King size water beds are 72 inches wide by 84 inches long. There are also California King sheets, but I don't know that size.
