No, but if an abused child decides to go to any home they wont be in much trouble by the authorities; depending on the abuse the parents can be charged, imprisoned, etc. Chances are the child in concern will be moved to a foster home till they turn 18.
It is not explicitly mentioned why Dave Pelzer's grandparents abused his mother. It is possible that they had their own personal reasons or issues that led to the abuse. Family dynamics and histories of abuse can sometimes play a role in such situations.
Go home or call the police so they can take you home. Anyone who helps you knowing you are a runaway can get charged with aiding a runaway. If you are abused tell the police and the CPS can help you.

You don't!!! At least, not at 15 you don't. If you feel you are being abused, call the police, tell a friend, tell your teacher. If you feel your grandparents are too strict, go give them a big hug and say "Thank You and I Love You" to both of them. They are doing you alot for favors than you realize right now.
Children do not get to choose. That is just the way it is. Social Workers exist. If your grandparents are abusing you then ask your teacher to get you in touch with a social worker. You should not need to tolerate abuse. While you do not have the right to choose, you do have the right not to be abused.

I dont know your situation. However, if you are the child being abused, you should tell someone about it. If there is a teacher you trust or like, he or she will be able to help stop the abuse. Explain to them in person what is going on and they will be able to help you. Hope this helps.

If you are abused while in the custody of your mother you have a legal right to seek safe accommodation and have the abuser dealt with according to the law. seek advice from your local child welfare organization as laws etc on these matters differ from place to place.
it depends ifyou currently have custody of your grandchildren already. if you do then you must go through an adoptiion. otherwise most states wont grant fulll custody. grandparents used to have what they call grandparents rights but many grandparents abused that right so now a child must go through foster care and the courts.
